Bancroft Got Soul (Even in with a little moisture)

Let’s be honest: it was not the weather we ordered.

Gray skies. ~ Fifty degrees. A steady threat of drizzle. More “fall sweater” than “summer concert kickoff.”

And yet it felt like magic.

Our first Old Colorado City Summer Concert night might’ve looked quiet from the outside, but for those who braved the cold, it was pure gold.

Folks bundled up and danced anyway. Couples slow-stepped, kids played tag in the grass. And the band brought the heat. The 719 band brought the soul and that low-end groove made people move! — it was the kind of set that reminds you music doesn’t need a huge crowd to move people.

Of course, we’re dreaming bigger for the rest of the season. Sunshine. Block-party energy. A full park buzzing with neighbors and lawn chairs and cold drinks.

But here’s the truth: even with a thin crowd and thick clouds, Bancroft Park came alive last night. And that’s what we’re building toward - one moment of connection at a time.

The series is just getting started. We'll see you (and your friends and your friends’ friends) on a warmer, louder, brighter night soon.
